Almost 2 months ago, we dropped in for a class at CrossFit Hierarchy located in the Adams Morgan neighborhood inside Washington, DC. While the commute was not the simple 3 blocks walk it had been for the past 3.5 years at our previous gym, it honestly has been much more tolerable then we had envisioned. We introduced ourselves to the coach for that class and signed the waivers as we had been doing for virtually all the gyms we had dropped into while traveling. It had the same familiar sense of the gym we had been going to, just a different layout and structure.
While I’ve been trying to determine how best update the Boxlife section of this blog and keeping the non-crossfitter engaged, I’ve decided to share an experience I had while traveling for work. The conference was located near the convention center in San Diego and did not start until 12 noon on this past Wednesday afternoon. One of the benefits, or I guess not so great benefits, of being an east coaster on the west coast is that you wake up early.
That first week back in January 2012, we noticed a post in a community blog that a CrossFit gym, Second Wind CrossFit, was opening about 4 blocks from our house; literally FOUR blocks! The ongoing joke that my other half constantly mentions to the new members at the gym, who have not yet heard the story, is that there was talk about a wine bar going into that same space….how our lives would be different, but different they are different.
